Prairie Skies

northern_lights-1 fireflies

One of my most favorite memories as a child was lying in the wet grass of the night. Staring up at the Northern Lights or up at the stars and listening to the train going by. It was like nothing else existed. It was so soothing (even with the train). And when I was tired of lying there I would run around the yard with a jar in my hand catching fireflies. What more could a child ask for.

  1. That sounds magical Poppy!

I used to love watching the stars at night, although we couldn't see the Northern Lights from here--except by chance a couple of years ago and it was thrilling!

  3. We had tons of fireflies... "June Bugs" we called them... the only thing that might have made my childhood more magical would've been 'northern lights' unless I knew why they shined!! :)

  4. Wow. Beautiful pictures.

We used to try to catch fireflies. I don't recall if I ever caught any.

  5. When you're 8 years old the world is perfect. And those fireflies just made it even better.
