The Year Without A Santa Claus

Well, thankfully that Year's problem was rectified rather quickly with a little help from Mrs. Claus and a delightfully bizarre cast of characters. The Year Without A Santa Claus most notably features the quarreling sons of Mother Nature: Snow Miser and Heat Miser. Two lovable chaps if there ever were any—they're too much! I often have to remind myself that "the Burgermeister" is not featured in this special—that's another stop motion cartoon and a different set of Santa-related problems entirely. I tend to get some of my holiday specials mixed up: for example, Jack Frost is not Snow Miser nor is Elisa (Frost's love interest) a young Mrs. Claus. It's really not that complicated.

The Brothers Miser definitely stole the show with their respective musical numbers but so did one little girl's rather blue musing about what Christmas would be like sans Santa. For her part, Mrs. Claus did what she had to do (as harrowing as it was) to help her husband's business out, and of course, it all turned out well in the end.

You can start from the very beginning and revisit some peculiar yet unforgettable old friends:

  1. I'm going to have to go home and watch that now... I already watched my Charlie Brown Christmas DVD and have already pulled out "A Christmas Story" DVD.

  2. It's one of the more eccentric specials out there, isn't it? I watched Charlie Brown too but I've still got to watch A Christmas Story. Thanks for reminding me :)

  3. This was always one of my favourites along with Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas.
