Tweet Tweet, Twiddle Twiddle

To my recollection, the clip for Life Savers below (circa 1984), is the first commercial jingle that I ever heard my mother sing along to. She adored it:

Tweet tweet, twiddle twiddle,
There's only one candy with a hole in the middle...

As the years passed by, the lyrics and music that amused her so, dwindled in memory with only the faint vestige of "tweet tweet, twiddle twiddle" remaining. I've looked high and low for the ad in previous years with little success but thanks to YouTube user Retro Ontario (who is a bit of a legend in these parts) we can enjoy the tune once again!

  1. I liked life savers when I was a kid. My fav were the tropical fruits. In the late 70s and early 80s for a few Christmases I got my dad a gift that looked like a small book and was filled with rolls of them.

  2. I remember those little books. They were great stocking-stuffers. I think they still sell them at Christmastime. I especially enjoyed the peppermint and butter rum ones. :)

  5. My dad loves the butter rum ones too. I'd put them in 2nd fav. I didn't have the peppermint ones much but they are sounding good to me now.

  6. Humm can't say I recall any of the old commercials but I do remember getting those when I when grocery shopping and then when we got to the check out area I would pleasantly get to enjoy a roll.
I enjoyed it as much as the Hubba Bubba or Bubbleicious bubble gum or the stuff in those bubble gum machines. :D

  7. Hello K_Tigress! The check out counter was the best place to get an impromptu piece of candy or comic book. A very special place indeed. :)

I can't tell you how much I loved Hubba Bubba and Bubblicious gum. Spent many blissful hours chewing those.

Those bubblegum machines also hold a special place in my heart. I remember my brother and myself frantically searching for spare change to maximize our gum-getting potential!
