Remembering Dr. Seuss

It's interesting how our collective childhoods intersect.

Earlier today we commemorated what would have been Jim Henson's 75th birthday. This day however, also marks a special anniversary for yet another brilliant childhood artist/contributor: twenty years ago today, Theodor Seuss Geisel a.k.a Dr. Seuss passed away. "Mental Floss" has a piece in his honour entitled "10 Stories Behind Dr. Seuss Stories on the 20th Anniversary of His Death". Interesting bits of trivia worth reading.

"If I Ran the Zoo" (1950) has the first recorded
instance of the word “nerd”. (via Mental Floss)
